I started this newsletter for my book, 1521: Re-Discovering the History of the Philippines (working title).

My mission is to help members of Filipino diaspora reconnect with their roots by re-telling forgotten stories from our history.

I wrote this book because after revisiting the story of Magellan’s “discovery” of the islands in 1521, I learned new information that I didn’t remember reading about in history textbooks growing up in the Philippines. I decided to keep on reading about our history. The more I researched, the more surprises I found.

My hope is that in re-discovering our history, we learn who we were, who we are, and who we can be.
